Jim Klein is a multi-instrumentalist, composer,producer, teacher and arranger. His performance credits range from Radio City Music Hall to Atlantic Cityʼs Taj Mahal. He has conducted and performed with many celebrated “Oldies” artists such as: Lenny Welch, The Royal All-Stars, The Impalas. and Bill Godwinʼs world famous Inkspots producing their latest CD. He has composed theme songs for radio and cable television. He is currently the pianist and musical director for the Capris as well as guitarist and musical director for Little Isidore and the Inquisitors. Jim started playing baritone horn in elementary school and continued throughout high school where he also played guitar and electric bass in the jazz band. His education continued at SUNY Fredonia and SUNY Albany where he earned a BA degree. After college. he went on to study with Billy Bauer (voted one of the top 25 all time jazz guitarists) and Hy White ( CBS Orchestra and Woody Herman's Band).Jim also did a stint with Lynn Oliver's big band, octet and quintet , where he honed his jazz skills.
Jim has been teaching piano, guitar, and electric bass privately for over 30 yrs. Some of his former students have gone on to play with the Saturday Night Live Band and trumpeter Chuck Mangione. Jim's dedication to music education keeps him in demand not only from young students but also from seasoned professionals who benefit from his extensive knowledge of music theory and his unique teaching style. He loves to see students "get it" . That is, seeing past the notes, learning to express a feeling, and really understanding how music works. It changes their life. He's thankful for for being able to share that.
